| Wholesale The first 110 years we were primarily
butchers and in 1993 we took our first steps into
cooking for our self.
We employed a chef to make all the pies and pasties for
our 2 shops and have not looked back since.
In 2000 due to demand we started to wholesale our Pie
range and in 2004 added a Ready Meal range. At the
moment we supply over a 100 shops with (25,000 pies and
6,000 meals a week) and cover an area from Stonehaven to
Inverness in the North East of Scotland. Our vans are on
the road from Monday to Saturday.
In April 2004 we moved into a new factory unit and
have an EEC Meat products licence. We have EDI
technology in place.
All of our products are hand made from start to
finish and the meats that we use is locally sourced and
prepared in our own butchers dept. We have our own
bakers who prepare the pastries overnight ready for use
the following day. At the moment we have 6 Chefs who
cook all the fillings for the pies and meals; these are
all done from scratch with very little additives and
preservative added.
This gives us greater control over the product. Our
products have a very high meat content compared to our
rivals and are made to Quality not price.
Over the last 6 years we have won more than 40 awards
for our pies. These include Gold Medals at the Slavackto
Competition in Holland, this is the biggest food event
in Europe and is held every 3 years. The Smithfield
Awards in London held every 2 Years, Regional awards for
excellence in meat products, and the Make it with meat
Awards. We have also won 3 Gold Stars (The top award)
and 1 Gold at Freshfood 2000 in Holland where
competitors from 30 countries were competing and 4
Awards at the 2002 World Championships. In 2004 we got
the Gold award for the Scotch Pie at the World
Championships.
Our pies are a size larger than most individual pies
for sale in the North East.
We market our Pies and Meals as ‘The Award Winning Chefs
Pie’ and ‘The Chefs Meal’
Today Bruce is one of the most established names in
Aberdeenshire for Pies and Ready Meals with a range of
over 60 products.
